Natalia A. Castro

Natalia Castro (she/her) serves as the Deputy Director of Government & Public Affairs at Shaw Bransford & Roth, where she manages a variety of tasks relating to both press and government relations. Ms. Castro handles media inquiries and public relations for the law firm as well as the firm’s government affairs clients. Ms. Castro provides legislative representation for clients through the firm’s government affairs practice.

About Ms. Castro

Ms. Castro is the primary public affairs officer for the Federal Law Enforcement Officers Association (FLEOA). In this role, Ms. Castro leads targeted media outreach campaigns on priority issues, drafts media releases, develops social media and communications plans, and coordinates legislative endorsements with congressional offices. Ms. Castro also monitors criminal justice policy issues for various clients and works with legislative offices on federal law enforcement priorities.

Ms. Castro is the producer and a co-host of the biweekly podcast FEDtalk on the Federal News Network. She also serves as an editor for the FEDagent and FEDmanager newsletters.

Before joining the firm, Ms. Castro was the Multi-Media Manager and a Policy Analyst at Americans for Limited Government, a political non-profit organization based in Virginia. She also served as State Chair Manager for the Empowered, an organization dedicated to Second Amendment advocacy. Ms. Castro is also currently a cabinet member for Future Female Leaders, an organization dedicated to increasing female political engagement.

Ms. Castro is a graduate of George Mason University, where she studied Government and International Politics while competing for the nationally ranked Speech and Forensics Team. Ms. Castro served as a volunteer public speaking coach for students on the Speech and Forensics Team and tutored low-level communications students at the University following graduation.

Ms. Castro is currently a part-time student at George Mason University’s Antonin Scalia Law School, where she is pursuing her Juris Doctorate. Ms. Castro is working towards a concentration in National Security Law and Policy. Her policy and legal interests surround the intersection between administrative law and homeland security priorities. Ms. Castro is a member of Mason Law’s Moot Court Board. Ms. Castro was also recently completed the George Mason Law School’s National Security Institute Summer Program on the Separation of Powers taught by Supreme Court Justice Neil Gorsuch and co-taught by Justice Elena Kagan in Reykjavik, Iceland.
